Qualifying Leave Reasons

  • Employee’s own serious health condition
  • Serve as an organ or bone marrow donor
  • Bond with a new child (birth, adoption, or foster care placement)
  • Care for a family member with a serious health condition
  • Care for a family member who is a service member with a serious health condition
  • Military exigency arising from the employee’s spouse, child, or parent active duty or call to active duty military service in a foreign country
  • Victim of family violence or sexual assault

Benefit Amount

95% of employee’s base weekly wage up to the CT minimum wage times 40; plus 60% of an employee’s base weekly wage in excess of the CT minimum wage times 40

Maximum Weekly Benefit

$1,016.40 effective 1/1/26 (60 times the state minimum wage)

Maximum Leave Duration
  • 12 weeks in any 12-month period for all leave reasons, except for victim of family violence or sexual assault
  • Up to an additional 2 weeks is available for a serious health condition that results in incapacitation that occurs during pregnancy
  • 12 days for victim of family violence or sexual assault

Contributions

Employee: 0.5% of employee taxable wage base

  • Employer can choose to pay all or a portion of the cost
  • Employee contributions under a private plan cannot exceed those required under the state plan
