Frequently asked questions about BrightLife® Grow

  • How does the cash value accumulation work in BrightLife® Grow?
The cash value in BrightLife® Grow accumulates tax-deferred based on the performance of an index. However, the cash value buildup is not guaranteed and will be influenced by the policy's performance, cost of insurance, premium charges and other charges.
  • What flexibility do I have in making payments for BrightLife® Grow?
BrightLife® Grow offers flexibility in making payments. The amount and timing of your payments can vary, depending on your financial situation and goals, subject to meeting certain premium requirements. However, a certain minimum payment amount may be required at times to keep your coverage in place.
  • Can I access the cash value of my policy at any time?
Generally, policy loans are available whenever there is enough cash value in the policy and withdrawals become available after the first policy year. However, you will have limited access to the cash values during the first several years of your policy due to surrender charges, which can run for 15 years or longer. These charges, along with other costs, will affect the amount available for withdrawal or borrowing from your policy.
  • What investment options do I have to choose from?

BrightLife® Grow offers a varied selection of 1-year and 3-year indexed options based on major market indices that include U.S. large-cap and small-cap, as well as international.

    1-year term:

    S&P 500® Price Return Index

    Russell 2000® Price Return Index

    MSCI EAFE Price Return Index

    3-year term:

    S&P 500® Price Return Index

  • Why is it important to have different investment options?
Using multiple indexed options allows you to diversify and potentially benefit from different market conditions.2
  • Are there any riders I can attach to my policy?
Depending on your current or anticipated future needs, your financial professional can help you tailor your BrightLife® Grow life insurance policy by taking advantage of a selection of policy riders, some of which are available for an additional cost.3
